Just bought a NIB Springfield 1911 A1 Full Size. Got the Parkerized finish with cocobollo grips and all the loaded extras. I love this gun. Why didn't you guys tell me the 1911 was such fun years ago...
However, I do wish it had some serations or checkering on the front strap. I see where Smith and Alexander (www.smithandalexander.com) offer Government Model Mag Guides with 20 LPI checkering for about 80 bucks.
I'm wondering about a couple things. First, what about matching the Parkerized finish? It looks like S&A only offer Blue or Stainless.
Second, will it abuse my beautiful cocobolo grips by adding them?
Anybody got another idea on how to add a good feel to the front strap?
Thanks!
You 1911 guys were right all along. There ain't no other .45 like this .45...
