Well I made it to Texas in one peice. The heat has been brutal. The whole Houston metroplex etc... is for the birds. We are living in our camper up on Lake Conroe for the time being, till we can decide if we really want to commit to Texas. Its really to busy for us. We are small town. I got a decent job at Oshmans Super Sports in Conroe, selling guns in the hunting dept. I've been off line for a while, my computer has been and remains in storage. Actually I'm in MD right now at a friends house, had to fly up on real short notice, got a job offer for the county. We might be moving back. Or to western MD, or WVA. Oh well has to try Texas out.God bless all,

Don't move back to MD unless you're ready to deal with draconian firearms laws. I'd go for WV long before MD. M1911

Heat brutal? Na, you'll get use to it. Yes, Austin had 41 days over 100 degrees this summer, but the winters and gun laws, including legal CHL, make a little warmth all worthwhile. God invented air conditioning so weenies could live in Texas. You picked Houston, remember that it is the 4th largest city in the U.S.

Before you give up on Texas, check out San Antonio. The dry climate there tends to make the heat, almost comfortable. Its also a much easier town to get around in than Houston.
