Hey all,
Just wanted to share with you'll that my gun disease is getting worse!!!:D Im not complaining. Today i got a call from my LGS, they told me they recieved my RRA LAR-15 and that i could come get it. So I get there in about 30 minutes and we start the paper work. I have NEVER, and i mean NEVER recieved a GO from BATF, its usually a 3-5 day wait for me. We'll today they said GO, I wasent expecting that. While i was waiting for the "DELAYED", i checked out the display cases. Ive been looking for a glock 23 for a carry weapon, and they had two, and next to one was a FNX-9. As soon as i held it, i knew i wanted it. I know i was going from a 40 to a 9, but i really dont want a 40. The only reason i wanted the g23 is that i could buy a LW barrel in 9/ 357sig for it, and have more options. I already have a 9mm (glock 26) and buying a bunch of 40cal ammo is not what i wanted to get into. Well anyways after i got the GO for the rra, i opened my wallet i brought $540 with me, the fnx-9 was for $499.99. I frequent this LGS often and they know my face pretty well. Well i got it for $449.99 after i unleashed my negotiation skills. Its used but came with everything, 3 mags, and the grip adjustmants. I already own a FNP-45t and like it alot. I got another GO for the FNX-9, I guess this 9mm is my carry gun. Anybody got any experiance with this firearm? If so please let me know what you think. When i got home i started playing with my new(used) gun, I noticed that with one of the mags it will not lock the slide back, I took that mag and a good mag apart and noticed the bad mags spring is shorter that the good one. Im gonna call FN tomorrow hopeing they send me a new spring. I also noticed the mag does not drop out when i hit the slide release from the left of the gun, works just fine from the right side. Havent figured that out yet. Well today seems to be a good day, two GO's in one day, i havent got that many in 7 years...lol

I own a FNX-9 also. Loved it from the first time I picked it up. Than it just got better at the range. Very soft shooting, at least for me. But there is a bit more muzzle flip than a steel pistol of course. Otherwise, very nice pistol. As for the magazines, go to the FN forum. You will find threads about it there. Low story short, FN does not recommend that you low 17 rounds into their 17 round magazines. They suggest 16. So yes, there is an issue with springs. More info on the afore mention forum. As far as the magazines, haven't noticed it with mine. Good luck with your new pistol, you picked a nice one.

Thanks Robk, I called FN today they told me to mail it in so that they could take a look at it and repair it. Robk can I tell you something..... I better not. Less just say I'm an IDIOT!!!!!!

hey bud,

congrats on the new gun, i do love the feeling of a new toy myself...makes me feel like a kid on xmas. but i had quick question for you that i didnt understand on your post, you stated the following

"I also noticed the mag does not drop out when i hit the slide release from the left of the gun, works just fine from the right side

my confusion is why would the magazine drop if your hitting the slide release ?

possible typo or is this how you drop mags with a FNX-9?

Lmao..... Type-o I meant magazine realese....LOL. its ambidextrous, and the magazine has a slant cut on it where it catches when you insert it, its cut from top left to bottom right I think that has something to do with it. The mags drop fine if they are loaded from the weight of the cartridges, but I don't think in a SD situation I will be dropping loaded mags. My fnp 45t has the same cuts but no problems.
