While I was in Kissimmee for the weekend for the Mecum collector car auction, I took a look at Machine Gun America, the latest thing to cause anti-gunners al kinds of fits. Full auto doesn't interest me too much, but as the place was near my hotel, I figured I would take a look. I thought I might shoot something, but I was a bit worn out from the drive. I'm in Kissimmee often, though, so I may shoot something next time - they're working on sonething that is actually of interest to me......
But first, more on the place- nice "showroom", well lit. The staff there was very friendly. The soundproofing could use some work, though. The selection of guns is rather small, but they're working on adding inventory. Most of it is modern; you can check their website for most of their inventory. It's not exactly cheap - $40 for an MP 5, with one mag, and then $25 per mag additional, for example. The HK 23 is $50 and $22.50. An M4 is $80 (!). Other prices vary, but are comparable. They do have a 1919 Browning - and that is $120, with 40 rounds costing $45.00. That's a bit pricey for me and other people, but their main customer base is tourists coming from nanny states and countries with severe gun restrictions - and they have money to spend. Apparently, they're doing pretty well.
As I mentioned, I'm not all that interested in what they have ( except for that Browning....). But they're working on one gun on my "bucket list" of guns to shoot - a Thompson in full auto. I will definitely make the trip for that, when it's ready.
They're open every day from 10 to 8, no reservation needed - like any tourist attraction, subject to busy and not busy times. If you're in the Kissimmee/Orlando area, it's at least worth a visit. And as a bonus, if you love old cars, it's right across the street from Old Town.
Car shows there every Friday and Saturday night. Good times!
