Mac10 questions

Does the cocking knob on top of a stock Mac10 move when the gun is fired? If not, does it stay in the rear or forward position? From diagrams and pictures of the bolt assembly it looks like it would have to move when the bolt does, but I have read in some places that the knob remains stationary.

Yep, it moves. The handle fits into a well in the bolt. When you remove the retaining pin and seperate the receiver from the upper, you slide the bolt back to align a slot that lets you pull the handle out. Then the bolt slides out.
