mac 9mm?

hey guys
i was at a gun show today with my dad, and he ran into one of his old work friends. his friend had a table set up and a bunch of submachine guns. we are interested in buying one of these, a mac-11 in 9mm. i posted in the pistol thread because im not sure what model it is, if it is semi or full auto, or what. all i know is that it took 20 round magazines, and it has a shroud that comes 5 to 7 inches off the front, however im not sure how long the actual barrel is. anyone know what kind of mac this is? he was asking 850, is this a good price if it is full auto? or even semi? we are very interested, and the guy said he would hold it for us if we wanted. it comes down to either this or an m1a. so whadya guys think?

If the guy is asking that mich, then it must be an "open bolt" type, which is easier to convert to full auto. If you only plan to use it as semi auto, I would get a "closed bolt" design and save your self alot of money.
The reason open bolt styles are so much more expensive is that the law now is that they can no longer produce more of them for the public due to the ease of full auto conversion. The accuracy of these pistols is questionable. It may be wiser to buy a barretta and some high cap magazines and give up nothing on reliability and accuracy IMHO.

For this price it should certainly be a full auto m-11. Even if it is, this price is too high. A friend of mine recently purchased a full-auto one NIB for $750. Another friend got one for $350 (an extremely good price). Don't forget that a transferable NFA class 3 weapon has too have a $200 transfer tax addded when purchased. The process takes about three months. If it is a semi-auto open-bolt version, this price is extremely high. Yes they are no longer made, but legal full auto ones should cost less than this

$350 for a title II MAC-11? I need to shop where he shops. :D

Well, back to the topic. Assuming you live in a C3 friendly state, this is more than likely a full-auto version. If it's a semi-auto, screw it. The price is way too high.

I've seen title II Macs for $1200-$1500, but you must consider what a POS these must be when the more glamourous MGs (MP-5s, M-16s, Steyer AUG, FALs) go for way more than that. If they weren't full auto, I'd doubt that they'd get a second look
