Maadi-Griffin plans

I've just purchased the Builder's plan book for the .50 Cal Mhaadi-Griffin rifle, from Bob Stewart. Now, I AM an experienced machinist, but I've never done any firearms work. Bob recomends that the head spacing be farmed out to a good gunsmith. Exactly how difficult is that part of building a rifle?

Headspacing on the Maadi-Griffin is actually quite easy, but DON'T rush it!!Make sure that You have an in-spec target-grade cartridge available to do it with, and practice many times ( with winess marks ) before You make with the heli-arc!

Thanks. Heliarc welding is something I'll have to practice quite a bit before I reach that stage, as I've never done it before. Fortunately, my brother in law is both a gun fanatic (Aspiring gunsmith) and a professional welder; I'm sure he'll be willing to give me pointers.
