This is an admitted long shot, but you can put as little as $10 on your credit card to help this lady out. If you're in Mass., pass the word to vote for her. The Repubs didn't even bother to field a candidate, so you're not splitting the ticket. If nothing else, it's better than not voting for Senator at all - at least it will cancel out one vote for him. Try to tune out the "whistling in the dark" rhetoric.

Dear Friend,
Great News! Rasmussen Research - U.S. Senate Poll results for Massachusetts, 8/11/00:
Ted Kennedy 63%
Carla Howell 16%
Unsure 21%
In their lead political story, Rasmussen Research writes:
"Senator Ted Kennedy is leading Libertarian candidate Carla Howell 63% to 16% in the Massachusetts race for the U.S. Senate. While Kennedy holds a solid lead, Howell could be in a position to achieve one of the largest vote totals ever achieved by a Libertarian candidate."
The stunning news for Carla Howell, says Rasmussen Research: "74% of Massachusetts voters have never heard of Howell or have no opinion of her." On the other hand, "Out of the 26% of the voters who have heard of Carla Howell, 62% are voting for her," noted one political pundit.
How will these polling numbers move when the Carla Howell for U.S. Senate campaign can produce and pay for $300,000 in TV Advertising? Will my 16% in the first U.S. Senate Poll convince Major Media in Massachusetts to give us even more coverage? We're ahead of Jesse Ventura in 1998.
September, 1998: Jesse Ventura 10% to 12% in the polls.
August, 2000: Carla Howell 16% in the polls.
Why are Mike Yacino, Jack Durkin, and every other Major Gun Rights Activist in Massachusetts endorsing me for U.S. Senate? Why have I been invited to speak to a crowd of 60,000? Why are Barbara Anderson, Chip Ford, and Chip Faulkner - 3 of the most influential Tax-Cutting Activists in Massachusetts - endorsing and voting for me?
Why is PBS TV station WGBH videotaping my speeches and campaign appearances? What's going on? Why is all this happening?
With your help, we're earning our poll numbers. Earning our endorsements. Earning our TV, radio and newspaper coverage. We have great news and a great opportunity.
Here's just a handful of the many people who are endorsing the Carla Howell, Libertarian for U.S. Senate, "small government is beautiful*" campaign:
1. Jack Durkin, President, Gun Owners Action League (NRA Affiliate) says: "The Second Amendment is Carla Howell's Holy Grail. She supports the rights of gun owners more than any other congressional candidate you can vote for. I plan to vote for her. I hope you will, too."
2. Lovett Peters, Chairman, Pioneer Institute [Premiere Privatization Policy Group in Massachusetts] says: "I am glad to give Carla Howell a ringing endorsement in her campaign for US Senator from Massachusetts. Senator Carla Howell's presence would help move more activities into private management"
3. Richard Egan, Founder and Chairman , EMC Corporation, says: "Carla Howell is my choice for U.S. Senate. She boldly advances small government and huge tax cuts, individual liberty and personal responsibility."
4. Dan Fylstra, Founder of VisiCorp, publishers of VisiCalc, the first electronic spreadsheet, says:"Carla Howell understands that new products, new jobs and new wealth come from innovation, technology and free nterprise, not from government. I strongly support Carla Howell for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts."
5. Education Reformer John Taylor Gatto, author of Dumbing Us Down and A Different Kind of Teacher: Reflections on the Bitter Lessons of American Schooling says:
"As New York State Teacher of the Year (1991), I know the biggest problems faced by many fine teachers across America is the federal government. Its rules, regulations, and mandates cripple good teachers. Carla Howell's proposal to get the federal government totally out of schooling will free good teachers to teach once again. I enthusiastically support Carla Howell for US Senate. Please vote for her."
6. Sam Blumenfeld, Teacher and Author of The New Illiterates and NEA: Trojan Horse in American Education, says: "We need Carla Howell in the U.S. Senate. She understands why the federal government must get out of the education business. Since 1965, the federal government has spent about $150 billion on compensatory education to help the disadvantaged succeed in school. The results have been so dismal that we now have more illiteracy among the young than we had before the feds started throwing money at education. As a believer in the Separation of School and State, I know that a victory by Carla Howell will bring us closer to a restoration of educational freedom and smaller government."
7. Barbara Branden, Author, The Passion of Ayn Rand, says: "I am happy to endorse Carla Howell, a candidate of principle and integrity who stands for small, limited government."
14 days from now, we start running $20,000 in Carla Howell, Libertarian for US Senate, "small government is beautiful*" Radio Ads.
This month: $20,000 in Radio Ads. Plus another 5,000 bumper stickers. Plus 10,000 yard signs. Plus speeches. Plus Talk Radio. Plus TV Interviews.
TV Ads: We must produce and pay for $300,000 in TV Advertising. Hard-hitting, persuasive TV Ads. On Gun Rights. The Biggest Tax Cut in American History.
Ending Drug Prohibition and the Insane War on Drugs. "Small government is beautiful*".
Massachusetts voters are hungry for our
"small government is beautiful*" alternative.
Massachusetts Pro-Freedom Activists see that we are running a serious campaign for Individual Liberty, Personal Responsibility, and small government.
Libertarians. Pro-Gun Activists. Tax-Cut Leaders. Education Reformers. Privatization Leaders. Business Leaders.
Massachusetts voters are seeing Car after Car with Carla Howell bumper stickers. House after House with Carla Howell yard signs. Gun Club after Gun Club with Carla Howell campaign fliers.
This is why I'm already polling 16% against Ted Kennedy.
According to the Rasmussen poll, we've reached roughly 1,700,000 people in Massachusetts. 62% of the people who have heard us say they will vote for Carla Howell for U.S. Senate.
WE NEED $300,000 in TV ADS in SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER TO REACH the 74% of MASSACHUSETTS VOTERS WHO HAVE not HEARD OUR SMALL GOVERNMENT MESSAGE. We have less than 70 days ...
Without $300,000 in TV Ads, Big Government Ted Kennedy will be able to Exclude us. Able to Ignore us. With $300,000 in TV Ads, we will get dramatically more TV News coverage, Talk Radio Appearances and Newspaper articles. With $300,000 in TV Ads, I will be invited to speak to bigger and more prestigious groups. Credibility. Legitimacy. Worth voting for.
Your generous donation will help pay for $300,000 in TV Ads. But we need $42,000 this week to stage and produce these TV Ads. What kind of TV Ads? Hard-hitting. Principled. Persuasive.
