Has anoyne acquired or used the M96 rifle or carbine from Robinson Arms http://www.robarm.com

What did you like and not like about it. What is the carbine like compared to the rifle. What type of accuracy was obtained? How reliable are they. Would one trust this weapon system in combat. I am considering obtaining some of these for our SWAT team. We have ar15 dissipators now, but I have heard that the stoner system that this was derived from was a great weapon system.

Mooser,

Run a search on old threads for the M96. I am doing some research myself on it, and the general consensus is that it is a very well to do rifle.

The rifle is nice. It is, compared to the AR, front-heavy. Build quality is very good, and it's been very reliable for me. Takedown and field stripping is complex compared to the AR; you have to fiddle around a bit to get the gas piston connected or disconnected from the bolt carrier, and the pins that hold it together aren't as easily dealt with as the AR's zillion detent springs. The trigger is wonderful.

I suspect that overall reliablity will be better than an AR, since it's got the mass of a big gas piston knocking the bolt carrier back and forth, and it has an adjustable gas port. I had a few problems with Orlite mags, but the Thermolds and GI mags worked fine. I just think the Orlites are a bit squirrley.

The barrel is a quick-detach, so I think it's going to have groups a bit larger than a rifle with a more solid attachment. But it's been good enough for me.
