M96 Expeditionary Rifle

My Sergeant for our department is testing this rifle for possible supplementary use. I was reading a bit about this rifle and was thoroughly impressed by the performance of this weapon. Does anyone have experience with this weapon that they can give me? How does it compare with an AR-15? Any and all info is appreciated :)

There has been a lot of discussion on the M96 here.
There are a couple of us that have used it...
Myself included.
I consider it to be the #1 rifle for an autorifle in 5.56mm Nato. Its very rugged and highly reliable.
If there is ever any problem with it - send them an email and they'l make it right ASAP.
They are made here in Utah. I had the chance to go visit them and I was impressed. Its a slick operation. Slick as in well run and well organized with lots of potential.

It shoots smooth and accurately... very easy to handle firing rapidly.

This rifle is well worth the price.
I recomend it highly an unconditionally.

I am wanting to buy an M96 Carbine.
Might come March... after I get my Rally Car.

I've had some experience with them, and I've been impressed. I plan on getting an M96 in the very near future. Personallly, I mistrust the AR-series guns and the M96 is the perfect alternative to them when it comes to intermediate cartridges.

DZ,

Thanks for that link. Good reading in the message section. Just confirms that I -need- to get one of these things.:)

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been to the website and read all about their various weapons and I am very impressed. My Sgt. was telling me how it was supposed to be the weapon of the military but something happened. I forget exactly what. The functioning of this weapon is amazing! Im now waiting for it to be approved by our department so I can get it for real cheap. How does it compare to the AR-15 weight wise?

I've heard good things about the M96 but never had a chance to shoot one. I have a question: How does the trigger pull feel? Everything about the weapon seems well thought out.
