this is a Picture of a gun like the one I've purchased..

I just got back from range. Put 200 rounds through it. Wow! I think I found a new favorite weapon to shoot. The .44 is awesome. The S&W spl rounds are accurate and have far less kick than mags. That helped recover quickly for subsequent shots. All that plus having legendary stopping power of a .44? Im in love. I keep a Baretta 92S in bedside safe. I used it extensively in the military and liked having the magazine capacity. The Rossi has replaced that. I learned that I don't need all those rounds. One well placed .44 and it's over. In addition I don't have to mess with a safety. One catch is that I might need to start reloading if I plan to fire this weapon a lot. Lol

I had one exactly like it, and it was my bedside gun for years. Sold it a few years back, but I would buy another now (if I could find one in decent shape).

I wasn't thrilled with the hammerless design for a house gun, preferring the option of being able to cock the weapon if I deem it proper for a situation, but they did make an exposed hammer model, (actually I believe yours is considered a 720 covert), which I would love to have.

Nothing wrong with a good .44 special round for defense!

Beeeeautiful gun!

It seems that Dan Shideler in Gun Digest,2011 labeled the 720 "as a jewel" in his "Editor Picks".

Unfortunately that was the last 720 at the online gun auctions.:( Glad you got it.:)

I bought one of those about twenty years ago for a very good price from a sporting goods store that was going out of business. It turned out to have a timing problem that would require a trip back to the factory and .44 Spl ammo was pretty limited and expensive. So, I wound up trading it for something or other to someone who was patient enough to send it back and wait for the very slow service Rossi was known for. Of course, as with most guns I have traded, I wish I had kept it. It was a good design for a concealed carry revolver if one liked the .44 Spl...You could do a lot worse.

The 200gr Blazer seems to have been a well kept secret for a while.

Went to www.ammoseek.com and www.ammoengine.com and came across the Blazer with Gold Dots.

Premium bullet in a budget case that works.

Congrats to the two of you Buckeye and bedidin and welcome aboard bedidin.

You two know and appreciate a good quality gun when you see one.

Got some .44 Special revolvers. Those are made by the "other company" of Rossi's. :)

Something about that 'ol big slug that can be found to be comforting and user friendly.

Hi. New to the forum. I have that same exact hammerless model, bought it around a decade ago for my wife. I like Rossi, great quality for the price. I've probably put 100 rounds through it total. I had bought it as a car gun because of the stopping power and the price in case it gets ripped off. Of all my car guns, it was among the best. I've had some terrible ones, lol, including a Kel Tec that would stove pipe on a regular basis and an off brand .22 magnum that had a trigger pull that felt like 200lbs.

Yeah, those are good little guns. I used to own both models. Hammer and hammerless. My gunsmith loved them both and I owed him a favor so... I caved in and sold him the hammerless one. I never carried it since it was all steel and heavy. For carry and .44 Special, I went with the S&W M296. But the hammer version 720 with adjustable sights I use around the ranch all the time. It's a tough little bulldog that can be tucked away until you have a large animal that simply has to be put down quickly with a large bullet to the forehead. (Like a steer or a goat or something that is injured or just dying for some sad reason.) I sold the one but the other one is staying around here. I keep it by the bed as the backup home defense gun. Gives the wife something she can trust if I grab the primary and head out to figure out what is going on.

I located a NIB unfluted cylinder exposed hammer model a couple years ago and would buy another if the right deal came along......good guns.
