I find myself overwhelmed with options and brochure data, but severely lacking in practical experience with the various brands (e.g. Insight vs Streamlight) of "M6" Flashlight/Laser Sights as weapon-mounted accessories.

1) Are there any significant differences between the current brands?

2) Are their respective components and replacement parts interchangeable?

Any comments from the perspective of first-hand experience with more than one manufacturer and model would be most appreciated.

SureFire All the way...

Yeah, SureFire is definitely the way to for weapon lights. They are shock isolated and can withstand high temperatures (say you were firing full-auto)

Insight and Streamlight are partners concerning the M series lights
I have the M6x Mounted on my ar15 and have absolutely no regrets with the light or laser I use it frequently in my line of work. When evaluating top of the line weapons lighting they are very close in operational use it mainly comes down to a personal choice and what it is going to be used for
hope this helped.

My vote is for Surefire

I have three Surefire lights Z2 M2 and M3 and they are quality not cheap but they are quality lights.

Thanks, Lawman1290, for the feedback and clarification on the manufacturing collusion.

The rest-o-youses - thanks for the Surefire endorsements!! I use one of the 500-series weaponlight systems on my bushy carbine; and neither the Mrs. nor I would be caught without a 6z/2z with us at all times.
