M44 muzzle break on M9130

I went to the gunshow today and I bought what I thought was a MN muzzle break but it doesn't fit on it. So I thought it was for the M44 maybe, and it was. Since they both shoot the same round, is there any way to make this work on my Mosin Nagant M9130?

I'm not sure what it is you got, but if it's one of those "hook around the front sight base," or "pin on" things, it's not going to work on a 91/30.

The M44s have a sleeve installed at the front of the barrel that incorporates the front sight base AND the bayonet swivel post. The diameter is much larger.

Aw damn, thank you. Why is the barrel smaller on the M9130?

As I said, the M44s have a sleeve that fits over the end of the barrel that incorporates both the front sight base and swivel post for the folding bayonet.

The 91/30s use a separate "socket" bayonet much like that used on old muskets in the 19th century.

The front sight posts on the 91/30s are sweated on and no sleeve is used.

It just dawned on me that you might be able to make a liner for your muzzle break to compensate for the smaller diameter of the 91/30 barrel. The one thing I don't have at hand right now is whether the front sight is the same distance from the end of the barrel on both guns.

The M44s sight is closer to the barrel then the M9130. I was thinking about drilling a little on the inside of the brake so slip it on, but I would have to drill prettyfar into it to reach the sight.
