M43 help...

I have an M43 Spanish Mauser that has been "sporterized" with scope mount holes drilled into it. I am having a problem trying to mount a scope to it. First I had to "trim" the rear scope base so the bolt handle had clearance. Well now that this problem is solved I have my next one. The mounts are no where near level. The front one is higher. Scope doesn't fit properly. Any ideas? What should I do to raise the rear mount?

I found my exact model online and it was mounted like mine "should" be. Here is a pic

Again any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Sounds like the scope bases are not the right ones for your rifle. The Mausers that I've scoped (admittedly not a Spanish Mauser) have had different bases for the front and the rear ... if yours are the same, then that might be your problem. If they are different, are they reversed (front in back)? If they are "nowhere near level" then Burris Zee Rings won't help ... if they are close, then those rings would be a solution as they allow for moving one end independent of the other.
