I have some 240 round spam cans of M2 ammo, loaded in 5 round stripper clips & 6 pocket bandoliers. The heads are stamped HXP 73, the bandoliers are marked Cal.30 Ball M2 HXP 3012-73 & the cans Lot HXP 3012-73. Does anyone know who or where HXP is ? Thank you for your help.

HXP is a Greek headstamp- they had a bunch of US M1's and 1903A3's on Lend/Lease. It's pretty good stuff for GI issue ammo. It's been quite common issue stuff at the CMP Nat'l matches for several years now. I hate to see the supply dry up- one of my M1's is particularly fond of it.
 
Yep, Greek. Good reloadable brass too.

Same stuff is currently available from CMP, or was the last time I looked.
 
These projectiles attract a magnet, as does '68 Lake City M2. '68 Lake City M-72 MATCH & '58 Hirtenberger M1 MATCH do not. Copper plated steel ?
