Question for M1A Scout owners

what type of optic do you use/recommend on your Springfield Scout M1A? Just want to see what you all are using, if anything.

Thanks!

Chiz45, After looking around, I went with the Burris heavy plex 2.75 power. Set me back about $180 from Natchez. Quite a bit cheaper than the Leupold and works very well for me. HTH

Rez, thanks for the reply. I guess there are two ways to go, magnified, and red dot. I haven't really put the time in behind a IER minimal power scope/scout configuration, so i don't know how well they work. I did have a Comp M, but i really didn't take to it like i had hoped (flattop mounted on an AR). I didn't like the fact that i had to turn it on and off.

A buddy of mine attended a Front Sight Rifle course, and said that someone there with a M1A Scout had a Triji Reflex. The set up seemed to work pretty well for him, and it made me curious about trying it out. It's too bad that there are no 'loaners' around, as it can be a pretty expensive trial and error!

As for Burris, what height rings did you use? How do the irons line up with the scope in place?

thanks,

Chris,
Just a though and a quick fix for the time being. Try a 30or 42MM BSA Red Dot with the 11 position dial until you figure out what you want.
I bought a 16 inch VMatch and could figure out what why to go either. Now I have an ATN on the VMatch and I moved the 30MM to a Dissapator.
Recently I got a Stoner M4 AE Flat Top. It comes with a 300 meter flip up rear site. So until I can save the money for the Bushnell Holosight i mounts a 50MM BSA Red Dot to the forward RAS RAIL.
The Dot is just right at the top of the forward site post and with the Peep Site up it makes target aquisition very fast.
You might just check into the Holosight, they are pretty neat.

Good Luck
Karsten

Has anyone done any hard core rapid firing with optics mounted?

Must get hot up there on the barrel - any optics/mount damage? Radically shifting zero?
