M1A / M14 Mil-Spec Magazines

Does anyone know of a good source for these magazines? AR15 mag's are relatively easy to find, but not so with the M1A, as far as I can tell.

As I recall, the mil-spec mag's are 20 rounds. I'd also be interested in 5 round mag's for hunting purposes / reg's.

I know Springfield Armory sells them on their 'loaded' program, but do they also sell to the general public without purchase of the rifle?

Thanks.

Springfield does sell to 20-rounders to the public, on their website store, in fact. But, they want $80 each for them!

I just bought (10) 20-rnd genuine GI issue M14 mags from Cole distributing for around $270 delivered ("like new condition" according to the ad). The mags are not listed on the site, you have to call.

Fulton Armory is also a source, according their web site.

richardb, thanks for the tips. That is exactly what I need.

Have you received the mag's from Cole Distributing, and are they as promised?

Whatever you buy from Cole Distributing will be as promised. They are a good place with which to do business.

For the "hunting" 5-rounder, you're going to have to go directly to Springfield Armory. I think they cost $35 or so.

Thanks for all the help. Turns out that Cole Distributing is out of mag's for at least one week. She says she is hopeful they'll get more, but no guarantees.

What should I expect to pay for a 20-rounder? Fulton Armory wants about $40.

Forrest Inc [(619) 561-5800] advertises in the SGN "M-14 20rd 2 in GI Pouch" for $19.95 or 8 sets (16 mags?) for $114.

SARCO Inc [(908) 647-3800] advertises:
M14(M1A) Magazines US/GI-excellent condition $24.95.

That's about all I see in SGN. Too bad FAL mags aren't readily convertible.

I just got my order from Cole. I only looked at a couple before I left for work and they appear to be as described.

They cost $270 for 10 delivered.

CMP sells brand new govt. magazines for about $30 a pop. Used ones use to go for $17. They've got a website somewhere. Anybody?

There is a military surplus store where I live that has brand new one wrapped in plastic for $19 each (had a whole box full). I bought 3 and can't tell the difference from my factory springfield's. They function great. Don't know if they are new GI's or not. I'll go see if they have more this week and let you know.
