I checked fulton armory. They have NM gas piston. I am wondering what a NM piston can offer you? more accurate? more reliable?

I have a standard and a loaded M1As. I noticed that their gas pistons have some plays. Does that really matter?

STICK WITH

THE STANDARD GI PISTON...........NM pistons are uneccessary, and are a gimmick.
ALL M1A pistons have play, they have to, to function properly.

Can't honestly comment on the difference between the two, but I will say I've known several M1A owners, (myself included), who talk about the differences in gas pistons. It seems that their rifles shot "better" when they found the "correct" piston.

Implies that it's just one more part to tweak out on the M1A.

Nat'l match M1A parts

Guy's.........if you can find "NEW", G.I. isue M1A parts, they don't get any better...............

If any of you have ever heard of Art Luppino, he is the guy that did ALL the M1A rifle tapes, on bedding, accuraizing, how to's, and what not's.........several years back........and to my knowledge are THE best video's to date on a step by step process for M1A maintenance, and bedding, etc..........Called............... "X"Ring..................

Art said, Quote; " Stay away from the SO CALLED N.M. parts, they are more expensive, and are NO better than standard G.I.).

i.e...............gimmicks.

Very nice gentleman, High Master, and was a master M1A buillder for many years, as well as a Marine..........

Spoke with him personally for a couple of hours, was a rare and very unusual treat............

I have a titanium piston in mine. I have not experienced any operational changes and didn't expect to. What I did discover is that the titanium piston seems to stay cleaner longer than the GI one and cleans up easier.

Art Luppino tapes

trjake, yeppers............1-800-942-8273,

Lenny Magill Productions.............
Art's, one is , I think "Bedding", and the other is" Maintenance",

Also, a couple of excellent ones by Jim Owens,,,,,,,,,,,,
Sighting in, and position shooting.......M1A's

Ask fo a catalog.......they will be more THAN HAPPY TO SEND YOU ONE......BE CAREFUL, THEY ARE HABIT FORMING.........:)

Q man

Nope, they usually slap a finish on them..........Titanium Nitride is the usual suspect..............
To my knowledge, NO ONE is / has made better quality parts for the M1A series rifle than Unca' Sammy..................reason, they are all forged.............no cast doobage on a mil spec M14........
And that is where 95%, of ALL parts to build them have come from over the past 30 years........the supply is drying, dried up, and folks are going offshore, and having cast repros mfgd..........
