Hello, this is certainly not intended as a criticism
of the 1911 platform but rather of the lack of quality
control of some manufacturers. When a pistol fails right
out of the box,the manufacturer should simply exchange
it and not go back and forth with the owner until he or
she decides to go to a smith for help or becomes an
amateur gunsmith themselves. It has been suggested that
complaints are heard from a minority of owners and most
are just fine,my take on that is that the complaints are only
the tip of the iceberg. One way to deal with this issue would
be to have a database of malfunctions and how the particular
manufacturer responded to them simple facts no whining.
Something like this might catch their attention and help
with what appears to be a widespread issue throughout
the industry.
