i just bought an M1A .its been recommended that i grease the parts.since this was once an auto type weapon..where can i find mil issue grease for auto weapons...we used to use grease for a 25mm bushmaster...but i dont remember much about it.-johnny

At any gun show there's usually a guy who's got a box of grease in individual bottles for sale. These bottles look like small lip balm jars.

Buy some lubriplate white lube, it will work and any harware store should have it. Also pick up an M-14 military manual for your M1-A if you do not already own one. You now own the finest battle rifle that the world has ever seen. I am a LEO and my agency was given several by the Govt. and they are absolutely fantastic rifles as a semi auto but require great skill and training to be able to fire full auto effectively. I also own my own M1-A and it will be passed down to my son after I am gone, I will die owning that rifle. If I could only have one rifle it would be an M1-A. Shoot safe...7th Fleet

mongrel66, The grease used on the M242 Cannon is GMD (grease, molybdenum disulfide). I suggest you use Breakfree (CLP). You don't need to use grease on an M1A, just follow the instructions in the owners manual.
