Who exaclty is issued the Sig M11 9mm in the Military?

I know Army Criminal Investigation Division is issued it as standard, but who else?

The reason I am asking, is I am about to go active duty (Army) as an MP. I already own a Sig P288 (M11) and love it. But if they are just issuing the M9 Beretta, to everyone, then I would like to buy another Beretta before I go and switch to it as my daily CCW and practice gun.

I had heard that if you had small hands you could use the Sig, but does anyone know how it is decided?

Thanks for any info!

Supposedly some armor crews were going to get them too. A friend of mine is an Abrams gunner,he confirmed this rumor. However at this point they`re still being issued Berettas that are so worn out and loose they rattle like a bucket of marbles. :( Marcus

Hello, I was an MP not too long ago, and my wife still is. Military Police Investigators, get to use the M11, they work plain clothes most of the time. CID was already mentioned. Unless you get lucky and get MPI school, chances are slim you will get issued a M11. Even when it is obvious that the M9 is too large for your hands you still have to suffer with the M9. With my wifes current unit the only training they get is every 3 months. And that is just to qualify. Training/qualifying all in one. If you can shoot your 50 rounds and qualify the first time thats it your done shooting! Crappy training in my opinion, I am glad to see you want to practice more. Good luck with your decision.
