M1 Markings Question

I just got my new (Ser.No. 586xxx April of 1942) M1 in under 4 weeks from CMP. It is in great shape, but I have some questions about the markings. The stock has a stamp on the side of the heel which is a square box with the letters "KIA" centered above the letters "EB". Also, on the underside of the pistol grip area is a P stamped in what I think is a circle, but is now more of a "C" shape due to uneven wear or uneven stamping.

Thanks in advance for any info.

DA: I believe your KIA is actually RIA for Rock Island Arsenal. Rock Island was a rebuilding site for the M1. EB was the guy in charge of RIA small arms rebuilding: Elmer Bjerke. He began inspecting rebuilds at Rock Island in January, 1947 and continued well up through the 50's.

The circle P stood for Proofed.
