M1 glass bedding

Anyone ever done this themselves? I've glass-bedded several bolt rifles without problems but never an M1. Doesn't look too complicated. Does this disqualify it for matches?

I did my own, I am sure a professional could have done it better. My groups ended up about one half of what they were before bedding.

Excerpt from that thread......
"From the CMP John C. Garand match rules, verbatim:

_________________________________________________

"Shooters may use any “as-issued” U. S. service rifle including the M1 Garand, M1903 Springfield, M1917 Enfield, M1941 Johnson or .30 Cal. M1 Carbine. Rifles must have standard stocks and be equipped with military-type web or leather slings. Rebarreling with barrels of “as-issued” dimensions is permitted, but “NM” parts or glass bedding is not permitted."

If you want to accurize your M1, there is a varity of info on how-to-do it yourself. One of the best, cheapest, and easiest to get is The M1 Rifle booklet, available from the NRA. This gives very detailed instructions on glassbedding, fitting gas cylinders, and trigger work.
