I bought a M1 Garand SA 1943 about a year and a half ago for 600 bucks. the stock was nasty and the barrel was shot out but i figured i could put some elbo greese into it and it would look really good. now i have a new barrel on it refinished the stock. but the darn thing spits clips at me now that ive restored it! i ordered a new clip latch and spring for her, installed it. shot her again yesterday...she spat 3 live shells in my face along with the clip. i have access to my brothers garand that i bought at the same pawn shop for 550 in about the same condition as mine was. what parts do you think i need to start swapping out to find the one i need to replace? or should i just take it to the gunsmith? thank you for your imput

Check that the hook on the op-rod catch assembly (what the op-rod spring follower rod hooks plug into), isn't worn. You want to be sure the clip latch you got is actually new and not just a worn one that is refinished. It can be hard to tell, once it has been re-Parkerized. Extra strength clip latch springs are available and often stop bounce and slap in the catch enough to keep worn parts running a good bit longer. Citadel Manufacturing makes one.
