Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could help me with a question. Is there anywhere online to get a complete list of stampings for manufacturers for the M1 carbine. I have a few guns with some markings that I would like to find out this information. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

M1 Carbine & M1 Garand---

Welcome,

I don't know about online but a good book is

The M1 Carbine and M1 Garand by Bruce Canfield

tcannon42 - M1 Carbine Identification

I've found online information to be spotty at best, except for
magazine markings.

The following book is highly recommended if you're serious.

" A Collectors Field Guide to U.S. Military Arms:
Collecting The M1 Carbine III
( With Cartouche Template ) "
By: J. C. Harrison, 233 pages, Field Guide Format

This is an Identification book only - No Gunsmithing/Repair,
and is In-Depth to the Extreme. It will answer your questions.

The WWII contract makers were Winchester, Inland, National Postal Meter, Underwood, Quality Hardware, Rock-Ola, Saginaw, Standard Products, and IBM. Irwin-Pedersen had a contract but was never able to deliver any guns. Commercial Controls took over NPM at the end of the contract and marked a few (239) carbines with that name.

Postwar, commercial carbines of varying quality have been produced by a long list of companies.
