m&p shield 40sw

Brother bought it as "new" from our LGS and has brass markings on the slide face and bottom of the slide where it would rub against the top rounds in the mag.

The bottom markings are not severe, just a thin obvious brass line. But the round shaped brass mark on the slide face is alot, so it seems.

How many rounds do they fire at SW prior to shipping? Because it looks like they fired a few mags.......or more.

Also there is what appears to be a chip in the bottom corner of the extractor. We have not fired the pistol yet but is this a problem? Sometimes these things are part of the design, like an oddly shaped extractor, but I'm not sure about this one.

Oh and there is no divot on the feed ramp, in response to the other shield thread........

It's normal. They fire a few rounds, and brass rubbings show up quickly. No one is selling a used gun as new... it's a felony, not just a fib to the buyer.

My 9mm Shield looked like it had been shot 40 blue zillion times, and it was new. I cleaned it up and haven't had near the "brass marks" since.

I don't know what they do to cause that.

Fired 50rd of brass, 50rds of aluminum, and then 50rds of steel cased ammo today without a problem.

Pretty wild little 40 cal. :D

Unfortunately, it shoot's too low. Me and my brother compared it to my fullsize M&P 40 and realized the shield is shooting about a foot low at about 20yards.

He had to aim the front dot higher than the two rear dots in order to hit center.

Sounds like you're not using the correct sight picture. Use a combat sight picture. The center of your front sight dot should be directly over the bullseye. Don't align to the top of the front sight as some people do.

I'm guessing you're using Picture (B) as shown below? You should use picture (C).

We were aiming as depicted in picture C. That's how I always aim a pistol and told my brother to do so as well.

But he couldn't hit the 8x8in steel target unless he dipped the rear sight down a bit.
