M&P Questions???

1. Does anyone make a smaller safety lever option for the M&P?

2. If not? Can you install a M&P Shield safety lever on a M&P compact?

3. Where do you buy M&P parts?

4. Last BUT not least...If S&W is not going to make a Glock 19 sized M&P, could they at least come out with a 14-15 round magazine for the 9mm M&P? I am sure X-Grip (or others) would design an adapter to fit the magazine and give us a nice 5" height in our M&P Compacts. Seriously, S&W please make this happen. The G19 is probably the most popular gun in the world...for a reason. It's size. I can work with the M&P Compact's short barrel but, would like an option to turn the Compact into a G19 size grip. Then, you do not have to design, make, release and market a new gun. (PS: Thank you for the Shield! Love it!)

I like the safety lever on the Shield. The dog ear safety on the compact and full size is too much. I am thinking of buying spare safety levers and having a machinist work some magic on reducing the safety lever's size.

1. No, but you can get one without a safety.

2. No, but you can get one without a safety.

3. Try calling S&W. They generally don't sell random parts.

4. No. The M&P 9c is pretty close in size to the G19 - slightly larger than G26, slightly smaller than G19. The full size M&P is slightly larger than G19, slightly smaller than G17. They don't have any problems selling. There is absolutely no reason for them to make a 15rd magazine. There is an X-Grip for the 17rd magazine you can run in the compact.

I've read a few posts here and there that claim S&W plans on releasing a G19 sized M&P in the near future. While I don't believe everything I read online, S&W did listen to the consumers and released a no safety shield based on feedback. I do believe that there is a G19 sized M&P in the works.

Would be a sweet seller!

Color me skeptical- I just don't think it's going to happen.

As KyJim points out, anyone who wants to pack more rounds in an M&P9/40c can buy full-size mags and an X-Grip. S&W has offered compacts factory-packaged with an X-Grip and a 17/15rd mag.

Perhaps more significantly, the bulk of U.S. states that restrict mag capacity have 10rd limits, and the 40c is already maxed out. In these states, a slightly larger M&P would not offer any more capacity than the 9/40c already do. Furthermore, if S&W chose to offer the "M&P Mid" in these states, they would have to make another 2 types of reduced-capacity mags!

One last factor- albeit a minor one- is that the barrel of the M&P FS is only slightly longer than the minimum 105mm/4.13" length for lawful Canadian commercial sale. A shortened "M&P Mid" could not be sold in Canada.

I don't believe that an "M&P Mid" has significant marketing potential over existing M&P variants.
