Do any of you folks have imfo on the 2.0c, good or bad you could share. going to put hands on one Thursday. also new to forum as this is 1st post:confused:

It's basically a compact (g19 sized) M&P...

The 2.0 has some nice enhancement over the original version.

Plenty of online reviews of the 2.0, and I have seen a few for the 2.0c

General consensus is positive from what I have seen.

One of our members here Constantine has at least one thread with a number of thoughts on the pistol. If you use the search function it should pop up.

I’ve only owned mine for a few weeks and only have a few hundred rounds through it. I like it fairly well. The size is that jack of all trades category. I find it shoots relatively softly and it fits my hand very well. I’ve had impressive accuracy from it. Plenty of options out there in terms of holsters and sights and magazines can be found for affordable prices at gunmagwarehouse. I’d say my biggest gripe would be the grip texture. In shooting a few hundred rounds at a time the texture doesn’t bother me and certainly keeps the pistol very stable in your hands. However, it’s not something I’d want up against the bare skin of my side. I typically carry with a shirt between me and the pistol but it’s something to consider if you normally don’t. I’m also not sure how much I’d like it if I was shooting say 500 + rds a day on some sort of class or whatnot. Reliability on mine has been flawless for the limited time I have owned it. I do find the slide finish to not be as smooth or durable as some others.

I think it would serve a number of people well, but there are also the Glock 19, CZ P10-C, Walther PPQ, SIG P320 Compact, the list goes on in terms of competitors.

And welcome to the forum.

Welcome to TFL, bp22!

As TunnelRat noted, Constantine put up some thoughts on them. His threads on this are:

I don't own an M&P 2.0 Compact, but I was sorely tempted by it when it first came out. Until I held one. That's when I realized that I was not going to be able to CC one. The grip is very aggressive and would eat through my shirts and jackets (I wear a suit 3-4 days per week).

great imfo thanks, the 2.0 will be a car and range gun as it seems to have the feel I like, it's fast to me with the ability to get on target.

In carrying mine more recently I don’t think it would wear through shirts. It’s aggressive but the stippling is fine enough that I don’t think it would get enough purchase to tear. Of course that depends on how tight fitting the overgarment is. You also could put say a Talon grip over it, though that does seem to defeat the point of the original stippling. I’ve run into a number of folks that say they’d rather have aggressive and then work it down with say sandpaper or whatnot as they find that easier. To me I’d rather just add texture with something like Talon grips and not have to permanently modify the pistol.

FWIW the M2.0 Compact is a larger gun than the now-discontinued M&P9/40c "M1.0"; the M2.0 has a 4" barrel and holds 15+1rds of 9mm/13+1rds of .40 S&W, vs. a 3.5" barrel and 12+1/10+1 capacity.

The M&P9/40c "M1.0" is slightly easier to conceal because it's shorter through the grip. It can still be found new at many dealers.

Of course, if you're happy with the size of the M2.0 Compact, it's all good. :)

I don't disagree with that. My jackets/cover garments aren't tight. I actually wear my pistol when I shop for suits, so that I can be sure that my suits allow proper CC.

Maybe the 2.0 wouldn't chew up my clothes, but that's my fear, right, wrong, or indifferent. The other reason I haven't bought one is that I'd also have to sell off a pistol to do so. All of my pistols work just fine, and I have a hard time selling off a good, functional pistol.

I get that it’s your fear, and it’s a reasonable one, I’m just sharing my own experience with actually carrying it.

I daily carry the 2.0 compact. As stated before, the texture is rough out of the box. Probably too rough for any use other then a LE duty gun.

It is SO easy to simply sand it lightly and make it exactly what YOU want. I touched mine with some 2000 grit paper ever so lightly and its PERFECT for my needs.

I have a number of 1.0(?) M&P’s. On each one i have stippled the frames to make em less slippery. The 2.0 is a MUCH easier way to get to the same point. 10min with some VERY LIGHT sanding and its good to go.

Now, in full disclosure... i carry AIWB and ALWAYS have a t-shirt between the gun and my skin. Then a cover garment over the gun. Thats not 2.0 specific, just the way i dress always.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed. I think they should have either kept it the same size (my M&P40c is a perfect carry size- with the extended mag and sleeve I have 15 rounds of .40S&W, or I can go with 10+1 and the flush fit mag and it nearly completely disappears IWB), or expanded the range and did one of each to more directly compete with Glock. The old M&P9c/40c is roughly the same size of a Glock 26/27, while the new 2.0c is roughly the same size as the G19/23.

The full size M&P M2.0 is my EDC gun. I always wear a t-shirt so it doesn't bother my skin. I like the rough texture, sticks to my hand better. I like this gun better than my G17. It's accuracy is just amazing or maybe it's just that I shoot this particular gun better.
