M&P 2.0 or XD MOD.2 9mm??

Anyone here one both or have shoot both? The XD MOD.2 would be the 5" Tactical model.

I would appreciate thoughts.

I'll be getting an M&P9 M2.0 as soon as my LGS gets one in FDE (the 5" model). Basically they've said they will hold it for me as soon as one comes in. So I'm biased. The grip on the M2.0s is very abrasive, but I really like that. It fits my hand like a glove and the trigger is very crisp.

Haven't tried the XD, so I have nothing to offer there.

For me, the 2.0 all day every day hands down. There's just so much wrong with the XD platform from a design point of view in my eyes. The striker retention roll pin, the grip safety, the mile long trigger travel and reset despite the fully cocked striker... The M&P just seems like a better thought out design to me, plus it has what I consider to be a better grip. YMMV, but for me this choice is easy.

And this is also not to mention how Springfield Armory supported a bill to limit how many firearms a person should be allowed to purchase per year. Not a fan, personally, but if you can get past that as well as the cons of the platform and still like it enough to spend the money then by all means.

Agreed. There is more to this bill than indicated above, but this is a good enough reason no to consider any Springfield Armory product.

That and the M&P is an altogether better design.

I'm gonna have to get my hands around an XD, just to compare. Firstly I will say, I think the square slide is UGLY. Very reminiscent of Glocks. I also think Glocks are ugly (sue me), but mostly I don't like Glocks because they don't point well, or at least they don't for me. And they feel boxy in my hand.

On a completely unrelated note, interesting that probably 70% of the pictures on the SA website are of women shooters. I'm all for more ladies shooting, but the way they portray them strikes me more as a marketing towards guys than the ladies. Call me skeptical, but that's what it seems like to me.

Agreed 100%. Their marketing is trying to objectify women, not appeal to them.

If the 2.0 had a trigger that didn't pivot it would be much better. Even then it is a better all around pistol and I will pick one up when the compact is released.

I had a 1.0? and hated the heavy trigger, detested the striker release pecker for the takedown, and was flabbergasted that an American company couldn't even machine their own takedown tool to correctly fit their own pistol.
The trigger has been fixed, the striker release blah blah isn't t needed and can be ignored, and I have to imagine the takedown tool was a fluke.

I just flat wont support Springfield after what they did in Illinois. They can go pound sand.
That said, and truly meant, I have two xdm pistols from before I was aware of their litigious escapades and find them to be good pistols at th range. Very accurate and reliable. Hate the grip safety and I don't like the sa striker for a carry gun.

I also have Zero patience for a company that won't even sell me an extractor. If one of mine break I'm more likely to cut the pistol in half and send it back to Springfield than send it in to them for a new extractor. Absolute BS on their part.

I really like the grip on the Mod 2 XD's. I almost bought one in subcompact 9mm, but the trigger just wasn't good. I got an XDS instead and the trigger is excellent. For a full size gun though, an XDM 4.5 or the S&W 2.0 are better options.
