M&P-15 Question: T vs. MOE

I am thinking of either getting the M&P-15T or the M&P-15 MOE.

I was wondering what the differences are between the two OTHER THAN the fact that one has the Troy furniture/ sights and the free floated barrel while the other has the Magpul furniture without a free floated barrel?

Are the barrels the same? Are the interior and core components the exact same?

For those who have shot both, how much of an improvement is the T version compared with the MOE version with regard to overall performance (handling, accuracy, sighting, etc.)??

Thanks for your information in advance!

I have a "T", and its a decent shooter. I havent shot the MOE.

Im not real hot on the Troy BUIS. Mine are loose when up, with a lot of play, and I dont do as well with them, as I do with the GG&G's I have on my one Armalite. The GG&G's lock up tight when up, and have no play at all. No biggie really, as neither get much use, and both rifles shoot about the same with their Aimponts.

The Troy free float handguard is also sharp or harsh on your hands if you dont use some kind of rail protectors. I just used the snap on Magpul type on mine.

The barrels and components other than the furniture and sights should be the same if you're looking at a plain "T" version with the folding Troy sights.

The new "TS" has a 1:7 twist instead of 1:9 and uses Magpul folding sights with a Troy TRX handguard.

I have an MOE and an OR, which booth shoot about MOA or a touch less. I also have a LaRue that shoots groups in the 0.3" range.

The MOE accuracy difference should be fairly minimal vs a T model since everything is the same other than the free float, except maybe if you put a lot of force on your forearm with a sling or use a bipod with a lot of preload (while you're shooting, such as using a very tight hasty sling hold while shooting offhand - if you use a sling not shooting it won't matter).

If you don't need the rail I think you'd be real happy with the MOE handguards. I love mine on a midlength upper.

MAGPUL all the way!!!

Troy makes great stuff, as does Knight's Armament, Daniel Defense etc. etc.

but it's all overpriced...Magpul makes low-cost, functional equipment that will get the job done. It looks good and works better. Love everything they put out.
