I am going to put a scope on my new M&P 15-22 because i am having trouble pinpointing center of target past 50yds.

What im looking for is an inexpensive scope / red dot that will allow me to go from 30 yards to 150yds if thats possible?

Only looking to spend no more than 100.00

Any suggestions?

Check out the 2-7x32 CenterPoint scope. I have had one on one of my saiga's for almost two years w/o a single problem. It has held zero and has very good glass considering that it sells for $50.

150yds if thats possible

Yes very possible. Just use an inexpensive 3-9X40 on the rifle and you should have no poblems.

If you want a really good scope, then go with the Leupold Rimfire 2-7.

It cost around $200, optics are excelelnt, its got fine cross hairs for 22 type shooting (and Leupold says it works fine on an AR if you want to shoot it there which I do).

You want to got that far out you need good optics.

Life time warranty and no questions on service 10 years from now. Its a lifetime keeper.

Have a Primary Arms red dot (M4 style) on my 15-22. Less than $100 including shipping. Very satisfied with it.

Personally if you are having trouble hitting center at 50 yards... that just seems like more of an excuse to use the money towards more ammo and practice shooting open sighted.

Try Primary Arms or Amazon.com

Like the other two posts above, Primary Arms is a good choice. Check out their own brand red dots. A lot of satisfied customers and their CEO, Marshall personally responds to questions or issues with their product.

PA Red Dot link (I owned the M4 and MicroDot on my AR15, very nice)

Amazon.com deal: Bushnell TRS-25 red dot for $79.95 plus a $30 rebate but you'll need some type of riser if you want to co-witness with your irons.

"Try this one on for size. It comes with rings and other mounting options. I have used mine on my M&P OR and M&P 15-22.

is that scope good for rimfire? what is the difference between rimfire scope and a center fire scope?

is that scope good for rimfire? what is the difference between rimfire scope and a center fire scope?

I bought it originally for my M&P 15OR and it worked well out to 200 yards. However, I end up upgrading to Burris 3-9x with ballistic plex to reach out even further. I then used it on my M&P 15-22 and this scope worked great. I zeroed it at 50 yards and I was shooting dime size groups. I did upgrade from that scope also to the Burris Rimfire scope 3-9x (it came free with the other Burris scope I own. Lately though I've been shooting using iron sights and red dot scopes so the variable scopes are sitting in the closet.

As far as the difference in rimfire scopes and centerfire scopes, its just their use. Good rimfire scopes can be used with rimfires and maybe some lighter recoiling centerfire. Centerfire scopes you could use it down to rimfire and up to their caliber rating.

so why do they even make rimfire scopes when i have so much more to choose from by looking at centerfire scopes? i see centerfire scopes with more features that are even cheaper than rimfire ones.

also, whats Picatinny-Style and Weaver-Style? the sig 522 has weaver style?

i would like to order a scope from midway cause im already ordering other things there. first thing i see is this for $50:

is that a decent brand? is 2x to 7x overkill for a .22lr?

Wikipedia explains it

The only differences between the Picatinny rail and the similar Weaver rail are the size of these slots and the fact that they are standardized. Weaver rails have a slot width of 0.180 in (4.57 mm), but are not necessarily consistent in the spacing of slot centers.[3] Some accessories are designed to fit on both Weaver and Picatinny rails; but most Picatinny devices will not fit on Weaver rails.[3]

As far as why there are rimfire scopes...well someone decided to make them and someone decided to buy them. just pulling your leg, I guess its personal preference.

2-7 is a good start...good for close range and enough magnification to extend your range. However, I've never used a TruGlo scope so I don't know of their performance.

You got so many options man- the 15-22 is the like best modular versatile tactical blacktikal accessorizable delta force-able .22LR there is- and depending on what you want to do with it yo ucan!

I didn't want a 3-9 on mine ( and certainloy not some of the 25-300x I see on the pictures of it, I mean, do you need to see 25x-300x when no matter what, even holding the rifle 45 degrees up in the air and busting caps, it aint going that far honest man) because I have two scoped, accurized, 'sniper' and 'hunting' style .22LRs, I wanted an AR .22 for tactical blacktical special operations around my hood and at the range... thjis is for practicing my ninja flips etc.

LOL. So anyway mine is for initially I used a $70 NcStar holosight, it broke of course... now it's an Aimpoint Micro i got on sale. I am trying to save for a nice deluxe 3x Primary Arms magnifier with the move-out-the-way flippable mount. They got a 7x magnifer, it looks real interestin !

Sometimes I wish and even consider an EOTech for, it would be perfect- I just dont want the 512 base model EOTech, really would want an XPS. they're expensive tho... same thing with the Trijicon reflex's ... both are great, but like $600. my Aimpoint Micro was close to $600 lisrt when they came out but I got the sale $299 so , im happy and flappy.

you got options tho- you can get a cheap o NcStar, you can get a high quality Chinese knockoff, from a high quality company like primary arms (they also give u options, from an Aimpoint Micro clone, to Aimpoint M3/m4 clone, to a 1-4 scope, to a 3-9 scope, all them options) an d you can get magnified "Scopes " to make ur 15-22 a scoped shooter... all sorts of optinos bro.
