Hi Guys, this isn't my usual hangout on the forum, but I'm trying to help a friend who doesn't do computers.

He is trying to find the current value of the above mentioned machine gun, which he possesses along with accessories such as tripod, jeep mount, spare barrels etc..

He's had his fun with it, and may desire to sell it depending on what we find out.

Serial number is 28XX, and through a little research I found that Rock Island manufactured them in 1955-1957.

Any info is appreciated, and if I need to be enlightened concerning my procedure, let me have it.

If anyone is so interested that they would like to talk to my friend, PM me. jd

It's full auto.

This is a belt fed, Browning machine gun. I think you would call it good to excellent condition. It's a gas to shoot. A very formidable weapon.

My friend has a lapsed class 3 license. Any transfer would have to be to or through a current license holder I believe. jd

So, was your friend an FFL, or what? I'm a bit confused.
There is no federal license to own an MG, only the tax stamp stuff.

My friend had a class 3 FFL which has lapsed. I may have misunderstood him, but I thought he said that any transfer would need to be done through a current class 3 FFL holder; along with the stamp.

By the way we are in Oregon.--Perilously close to ---:barf: well you know. jd

I appreciate hearing from the few of ya who have responded to my thread, but frankly I'm not having a whole lot of luck here.

Did I say something to scare everyone off, or am I just in the wrong place?

Any suggestions, other locations, etc.??

I'd be happy to have any dialogue with anyone with experience with this gun. I guess that most folks who have actual combat experience with it are getting up there or are already over there if ya know what I mean.

I've shot this one several times, and WOW!!! I can't imagine having to face one of these in combat. If the target is in a location where you can see your strikes, a few short bursts will put you in the ball park and then look out.

This particular gun has a front and rear sight, and if you get down behind it and use them it is very accurate with short bursts. More comfortable but harder on the ammo supply is simply sitting behind it and letting her rip. I think that it wouldn't take long to develop very good skill with it if you had enough ammunition to burn.

As for the noise---My God!! Just think of a 30-06 going off about three times per second, and you've got it. It sounds really cool when you're a ways off to the side, but I bet it aint very cool when it's pointed at you.

I've got pictures of us out shooting the thing, and might have to try scanning and posting a few; which I'm horrible at. jd
