I am intrigued by the M-21 tactical and the Carlos Hathcock M25/M1A commemorative Springfield is offering. Can anyone tell me what the differences/advantages would be between these rifles and my NM M1A? Am I crazy for wanting both?
Thanks

Compared to your NM M1A, the M-21 adds only a little bit (but a good chunk in cost), a Douglas, Hart, or Krieger Premium heavy barrel, and that adjustable comb stock. Your NM M1A already has a medium-weight match barrel, match sights, and clean trigger. As compared to the Super Match M1A, I don't know if the M-21 has a rear-lugged receiver, they don't say on their website. If your NM M1A is a good shooter, you could add a Brookfield, Smith, ARMS, or GG&G scope mount, a cheekpad or comb riser, your choice of scope, and save some coin. Especially if you study up on how the military M21 was configured. It's what I did with my Armscorp M14NM.

Em one ae

The difference is major $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The M21's do have a lugged reciever, the Super match also, and the Supposed Hathcock rig.

The rifle, ( as I understand it), will be in a McMillan stock, Krieger barreled, and marine tex bedding, as opposed to the standard crappola bisonite,,,,,,,,which is their standard fare.............
And Hathcock's name somwhere on the piece..........
Hopefully, part of the $3,500+ cost will go to his wife, and family..............
Because you can build a similar piece BETTER for several $$$$$$$$ less............

Thanks for the info. I just got a price of $3650 from my local dealer for that Hathcock piece. Think I'll have to wait until my wife's not looking.

Why not just go out and buy Gunny Hathcock's favorite pistol, the Glock 21, and have it engraved? Lots simpler adn a heck of a lot less expensive.

The only other info I can give about the Hathcock is that Sprinfield guarantee's 1/2MOA, which is pretty good comming from an MIA. But is the price worth it, who knows! If I could afford it, I'd buy it. I know I could save some money and have more fun puting it together, but I think guarantee would be worth the extra. It's hard making an autoloader that accurate, not to mention the time invested.

I've heard a few people make reference to this model as an M25. True?
