M 1909 Colts

Just curious. During WW 1, I know that both Colt and S&W made M 1917 revolvers in .45 ACP to supplement the 1911s, but did any M 1909s see service? They would only be a maximum of 8 years old in 1917.

According to Fjestad there were only 22 Model 1909s made. So unlikely any of them saw service in WWI. Pricy things too.

Not on the same wavelength?
1909 Colt AUTO = 22 made developmental toward 1911.
1909 Army/Navy/USMC issue New Service REVOLVER - GI until a satisfactory auto could be obtained, I don't know how many, but book price for the Army is only a little more than for commercial New Service, Navy and USMC about double the price. I have seen some at gun shows and in advertisements. No mention I have seen of WW I use.

Thanks Jim.......completely spaced REVOLVER.

All I got wrong was the type and manufacturer and number made and and and. Goin back to bed.

Sam....I can be wrong without bein humble can't I ?

FWIW,

In all the 1910 and 1911 testing of auto pistols leading up to adoption of the Model 1911, a Model 1909 revolver was shot the same number of rounds as a control. IIRC, there were no failures attributed to the gun.
