I purchased a Israele Arms International Model M-1 carbine (30 carbine)on Friday. I was shooting it on the range and the following happened. several light primer strikes and failure to fires. One round appeared to have fire out of battery. The primer was blown and case was covered on the sides with blow buy. What could cause this? The rifle was supposodly made with anew reciever and all mil spec parts .It is al;so supposed to have a match grade barel.I only fired 100 rounds threw the rifle. The ammo was new Pmc .30 carbine 110grn ball.

Off the cuff it sounds like a headspace problem. I recommend calling around to any nearby gunsmiths to see if they have carbine "go" and "no-go" headspace gauges. If the chamber is too loose, the head of the case is held too loosely against the bolt-face for a solid firing-pin strike. The fix is not a home-remedy deal.

If I am correct, this is a warranty thing.

You might move this question to the Smithy forum...I'm in no way 100% sure of my diagnosis...

Good luck, Art
