Lyman Turbo Pro1200 repairable?

My trusty Lyman Turbo Pro 1200 tumbler has served me for roughly 10 years.

observations:

low/variable rpm
transformer is too hot to touch
makes a clunking noise when rpm is low
speeds up a bit if I hold the bucket
smells hot

Assuming the transformer/motor is gone? do these things have a half life?
Today was in the 40's, but during the summer I could smell solder too. I never
run it for more than 3 hours.

Just buy new on ebay?

Take a look at the numbers on the motor and look through ebay for a replacement, or at Grainger.com online catalog...it's an easy replacement.

I have the UV10 and UV45, in my opinion the UV45 is a viberator tumbler that is an electric motor that is adapted to a vibrator tumbler. I also have the older Midway tumblers that are easier to replace that repair because of the value placed on replacement motors. In the beginning I started with extra tubs for quick changes and now believe I would have been better off had I purchased complete tumblers.
