lyman remington

I picked up a 1970 vintage lyman/uberti remingtom 1858, locks up tight, the bore looks near mint, a couple of rude looking screws, one side of the grips is warped, the cylinders seems to be .380” tapering down to .375 about 1/4” in and the cylinder has pietta 6m x .75 nipples. Also when the ram is dropped it locks up the cylinder pin or it did till I ground a clearance. Any ideas on how to make the grip flat, steam iron?

A popular way to straighten wooden bows and arrows is to steam them by using boiling water in a kettle.
Run the part back and forth across the kettle nozzle, while applying hand pressure.
Use leather gloves to protect your hands with such a small part, though.
Worth a try.

Well I steamed the grip and when I clamped it up flat came the crack sound. It was bending around a knot area, I can see a hairline crack but the grip did not separate. I cut some glass cloth, mixed up some 2 part epoxy and laminated 2 layers of glass as a backing. That should hold the sucker.
