Hello, everybody,

First time posting here. Looking forward to learning and discussing handloading.

Well I inherited an old lyman all american turret press. My farther and brothers and I used it since we'll as long as I can remember so it predates me and I'm 50 so this thing is pretty old.its in functional condition except the screw that holds the shell holder in place keep coming loose. Well I drilled it out threaded it and put a helicoil in now it seems good to go.

First ammo reloaded was .308 165gr siera , 43.3grns. of Imr 4064 win lr primer, col of 2.75
This was the load my farther worked up for our 3 .308 mod 88s . I was very please with .9 inch groups at 100 yrds out of all three rifles.

A friend just gave me a box of 180gr seira heads so jyst for kicks i loaded 10 rds 180gr heads 42.5 imr 4895 was going to test them out today but its 15 degrees out. 180 rem core locks would only group 2.5 inch at 100yrds so Im hoping my reloads will do beter.

Anybody have luck with 180 gr heads out of of 308. Like to hear your results.

Chilly.

I have one, I do not use it but I have it just in case. The shell holder can not fail when the ram is raised, the abuse comes when the ram is lowered and the case is difficult to remove from the die. Set screws and be added from the sides and then there are the dents to be added to the shell holder.

I also have Herter presses with set screws, in the old days reloaders learned not to abuse the equipment, meaning they learned how to remove the shell holder with the stuck case and die. Today reloaders simply grab the handle with both hands and have someone sit on the bench while they rip the rim from the case.

I have one of these. It is red color. I understand they were made in both red and Lyman orange. I use it for various tasks because it is so easy to set up. It is in excellent condition.
