Lyman #2 Winchester 1894 mount or not to mount?

I have a 1964 Winchester model 94 chambered in 30-30. I just acquired a period correct Lyman #2 tang sight. I'm have reservations about drilling and tapping this hole in the tang. Will adding this sight devalue the gun? What do you guys think?

I see these guns with the Lyman sights on auction sites, they always seem to go for a little more I guess. Especially when i can say that I have the original rear sight still also. Not looking to sell it, just inquiring about the repercussions of drilling a hole through the tang.

Thanks in advance,

Sean

as its a post 64,i see no loss in value, one hole will be needed to be D&T in the tang, and a longer screw obtained for the rear. eastbank.

I mounted it. Looks good. Thanks for the feedback. The receiver was softer than I anticipated. Drill went right thru with ease. Used center punch, drilled pilot hole. Then used the drill bit followed by the tap plenty of cutting oil and plenty of tape.
