Lyman 1000 XP Fluctuations

I am not happy with my old Lyman 1000 XP scale. The readings fluctuate. Is this scale known to have problems?

Yes, I am calibrating it according to the manual, and it has been in the same room, on the same bench, free from vibration, for days.

Is there something better out there? I don't want a balance. Something electronic.
 
I turn mine on and let it run to auto shutdown. Restart and calibrate, good to go. Also seemed sensitive to battery brand. Ray O Vac works best.
