Hey all,

I have wanted an AR for..well, as long as I've been shooting, seems like. I've done my research heavily, and after closely looking at ~10 brands I decided Daniel Defense was what I wanted. When my brother asked me for his recommendation for a good stock M4 a month or two ago, I recommended the Daniel Defense M4V1.

Tonight (the night before I graduate college) after dinner, my mom, dad, and brother presented me with...a Daniel Defense M4V1 Carbine.

The weapon feels amazing. The build quality is solid as a rock, and the Omega rail makes relocating the fore-grip about a 20 second process. It is quite light, and feels like it could take some punishment. It doesn't feel like a single corner was cut.

I feel unbelievably lucky and blessed. If my camera wasn't already packed I'd get you pictures. I'll have pics up ASAP.

For now, this is what I got:

On my way, sir. I created this account around the time I decided for sure to be a lawyer.

The pro-gun side needs more of us, that's for sure!

Congratulations on both the graduation and the AR!

And yes, the pro-gun side does need more of us. Good luck in law school.

I am always a bit leery of disclosing my exact location, but finalists were UWyo College of Law, Baylor, & George Mason. All very excellent for different reasons.

Actually got a Cornell invite, but that's a bit too rich for my blood. No thanks, debt until I'm 38.

Photos! (56k ALERT)

As promised, here are the pictures. Please forgive my atrocious photography skills. I have literally no experience with photos aside from a handful of LCP and Benchmade pics I took here a few months back.

This is my new Daniel Defense M4!

Here is the case it sent it. Rather nice for a free case! Four click latches, triple-lockable, with foam to hold the rifle.

Nameplate with serial blurred (though this is kinda cool: only ~600 of these made)

The rifle, in all glory!

My first P-Mag (this thing is awesome)

Congrats! LawScholar on both. I know exactly how you feel because I bought the DD V3 LW three weeks ago. Everyday I wake up and play with it for a while. You will love it even more after shooting it. :D:D:D

Yeah, I think I hijacked your thread on that. If that was you, I apologize! The one about an extra bolt carrier?

I was able to get about 100 rounds downrange and it was the most fun I've ever had shooting in my life. First ever shot through the platform splattered a beer bottle at about 75 yards. Very awesome gun.

Oh, and as for playing with it? Yes. Absolutely. I just take it out to look at like an hour a day.

We can all talk about our guns as "tools" all we want, but the cool factor is a real thing! :D

Sweet gun...been starting to toy with the idea of an AR myself...and another congrats on the degree, that's a lot of hard work done, and more to come!

Thanks tmas! To be honest, the DD is well above what I expected my first AR to be. In fact, it was my dream "someday" AR I discussed with my brother and dad. Little did I know I was setting wheels in motion to get it as a grad gift.

If it was my own money (very poor college kid) I'd probably toy with BCM, RRA, Stag, or Spikes. Good stuff and quite budget-minded. But the DD was my dream, and it came true.

Awesome, that's gotta be one of the best gifts i've ever heard of! I haven't looked much at the options, i'm pretty unfamiliar with ARs but i'm sure if i decide to get one it'll be months of research first haha

Do you coyote hunt in wyoming? Some of my favorite calling spots are over in the western side of wyoming, lots of dogs and quite a few rabbits/squirrels out that way:D Good targets for a new AR!

Oh yeah, coyote, prairie dog, all that good stuff.

I never appreciated how good a shot growing up in the country made me. First kill I ever made was a prairie dog at about 30 yards with a tiny little Beretta Bobcat .22 pistol when I was like...ten. No way I could make that shot now.

Now I've got a 30-round AR and a 25-round 10/22. Coyotes, prairie dogs, be afraid, be very afraid!

Good for you. I just finished up my first year of law school here at the University of Idaho. Be very glad that you really want to do law because lawschool is MURDER.
