How do you guys lube your muzzle loader minie and maxi bullets ?

I hot-dip both and there are times when I use a TC plastic lubing jig. There are a number of lubes available and each will dictate the application. I mostly use the Layman lubes. ..... :)

Normally when target shooting I smear some Bore Butter in the grooves with my fingers. I don't use minis.
 
Thanks for the replies, I guess just filling the grooves with Bore Butter with my fingers is what I will do. Seems like that will get some on all of the bullet even the bands.

I basically use this "dip" method only with a different lube mix. Even though I like Bore-Butter, I never use or trust it for conicals mainly for the reason that Hawg has listed. The mixture used in this video, contains Tallow and that is basically what BoreButter is. If you choose to use Tallow in your mix, then it should be the fat, in the cavity of the animal and not the outside fat. With time, any untreated Tallow, will get racid...... :cool:
