LTR in .243

Though this set-up is not currently offered by Remington I think they would sell like Hotcakes !!

(Larger than .223 yet sans the repeated punch of a .308)

A few potential uses:
Varminting
Small Game at moderate ranges
Light enough (and short enough)to carry afield
Benchrest potential
Flat shooting
Mild Recoil

Rounds available on most sporting goods shelves
Extensive information on reloading

Anyone have ideas how to 'create' something similar on a 700 platform ?

Since the .243 VS was discontinued....
-Maybe a VLS / shorten the barrel?
-Or replace the VLS barrel with an aftermarket ?

Your comments are appreciated.

Have 700 PSS in .243.
Barrel shortened to 20", bedded etc. Not shot much yet but should be very accurate out to 400 yds or so. No different to LTR except for barrel flutes.

tictac,

Did you purchase this gun a few years back ?

I know the 700 PSS has been renamed to the 700P. Even when it was called a PSS, I didn't know it was available in .243 caliber.

Congrats on what must be a great rifle !

If you ever decide to let it go, let me know !

Scoob,
Collected the gun new a week ago. The PSS wording is still used over here. I grabbed the oppertunity of the .243 while I could, there does not seem to be many around? I would have thought that as the gun was made in America you would have been able to get one fairly easily? If not and you are that keen how about purchasing one from over here or rebarelling a .308 you could even have the flutes then. I know its hasle but I think if you want this combination its worth it.
