I've been devouring HKfan's very interesting thread on LR shooting.
My brain quivers at how much I don't know, my wallet quivers at how much I have to buy and my rifle just shakes its head and goes back to watching Enemy at the Gate.
Anyway, one thing that I could do that would help me understand, preserve my wallet and give my rifle some hope that I'll learn what to do is to start a data book.
Admittedly, so far I'm still trying to find a load that will be consistent so as to show up when I'm shooting well and when I'm not.
But what do I need to record, which units or parameters should I use and where can I get the information when I'm lying at the firing line?
