LP vs GOP ad infinitum: A suggestion

This message is for those who insist on playing Abuse The Deceased Equine, on both teams.

No amount of rhetoric from the rock-ribbed GOP supporters will cause me to change my mind about my vote. Indeed, I'm such a stubborn, contrary bastard that my resolve has only been strengthened by those who exhort me to vote for Bush.

I suspect that the same may be said about Bush supporters when the Libertarians start threads solely to bash the GOP.

Therefore, I suggest that all of our members who delight in instigating, again on both sides:

COOL IT! You're not changing any minds and are only alienating your potential allies.

I further suggest that we let all extant threads along this line die. Again, they're just sucking up bandwidth and arousing people's ire, to no good end.

I've been waiting for someone to bring up this subject. What I propose is a MORATORIUM on libertarian/wasted vote/yada yada threads UNTIL October 1, 2000. Then, if'n youens want, have it out good (again) on this subject from then until election day. That's gives you just over a month, and gives us all a complete summer of respite, talking only guns (well, and movies, and Survivor, and....). However, as it's a very important subject and can have a great impact on our RKBA, it should be discussed. But like Fitz pointed out, I don't think much will be accomplished by the same arguments ad nauseum. Let's rehash it all one more time in October for the benefit of those who hadn't thought about in detail until then, and have a summer and early fall in relative peace in the meantime. Other political threads still fair game if RKBA-related.

Whaddya think?

There is no quiz on TFL material. If people are sick and tired of a given subject, skip the thread.

New people arrive daily. Rather than only read what's in the archives, they want to post their opinions and slug it out with the opposition.

Only the Staff have to read every thread. If a member is tired of the subject - skip it.

I would like nothing better than a moratorium on this subject. In fact I have suggested one in the past myself. I do not enjoy these discussions at all. The sheer enormity of the upcoming elections have us all on edge, which causes our tempers all too often to get out of control.

Now, as many times as I have heard you say that it is time to feed the hogs, I sincerely doubt that any Bush backers are making you strengthen your resolve. :) I think that has all ready been done long ago.

Just for the record, I'm not asking anyone to marry the Republicans. I'm only asking that they think about voting Republican this one time due to the seriousness of or situation. It truly is different this time around. I can guarantee you, that if they screw us after the election, NOBODY will be a bigger third party supporter then me!

1. Third parties in the current election
2. Pure abortion threads
3. Your opinion about why an ethnic group other than yours is no good
4. Gays
5. Drugs (except that the WOD leads to illegal searches)
6. Why you don't like the SCOTUS about church/state. Religious reasons for the RKBA are fine.

Of course, I am not king so who cares. Just my opinion.

More useful debates about Glock vs 1911 or 45 ACP vs. 9mm would be better :)

For that matter, I'm not even going to dignify this thread with another word. None. This argument has gone on long enough, and its time we gave it up. Let's shake hands, bury the hatchet, and get on with life.

There's no reason to keep rehashing these same arguments over and over. It's a waste of time, and I'm not going to participate.

And, do you want to know why I'm not going to participate? Because it is a waste of time to discuss these political philosophies over and over, with no resolution in sight.

If you used the Hubble telescope, you probably could not detect an end to this argument. It will go on and on, but I'm certainly not going to add my $0.02, no sir.

Ad infinitum. Forever and ever. Seemingly into infinity, we just discuss this issue time and again and .... ;)

Well, I'm still a libertarian / Libertarian, and I'm still going to vote for Bush. ;)

But, I don't want to hear another word. Nope. And, I'm certainly not going to add more words to this pile of useless verbiage, and .... and .... ;) ;) ;)

It used to be POTUS - President of the United States, but the present occupant of the White House is referred to as the SCOTUS - Scrotum of the United States. Right, Professor?

I have one guy mad at me because I disagreed that the Red Chinese plan to land 21 K troops in CA after the nuclear war in order to get his guns in TX. He thinks the yellow forms are being sent to Beijing. He said they were going to confiscate cars on the LA freeways then drive to TX. I propose to stop them at Van Horn!!

Another has seen 500000 UN troops and logistics being unloaded in Houston. Many white painted HUMVEES. Great camo? HA HA.
There's a dude in Bastrop who whenever he sees the ice cream truck thinks it is the UN.

Watched a show about reintroducing wolves into Yellowstone and was impressed by the naturalist argument that it isn't whether the wolves eat cattle or you - it was about - LA LA LA, wooo! BEING!!!.

Huh? There might be reasons for reintroduction but they should be expressed in terms compatible with this dimension.

It would be the Red Chinese under a UN Flag, and Commander riding in Black Helicopters. C'mon man, you live close enough to Waco, and you've listened to Alex Jones on KJFK enough to know that! :D
 
You know my UN invasion plan.

1. Print enough green cards for the invaders.
2. Generate taxi cab medallions, small business loans, scholarships for the kids
to cover the invaders.
3. Drop these by C-130 in front of the invading hordes.
4. Wait 2 years and see many new small businesses, new employees who can do math in Silcon Valley, great new restaurants, valedictorians in the schools who learned English in two years and have 4.0 GPAs.

Offer lower taxes and tell them that the police won't protect them. Take them to the range.

Due to the de-industrialization of the USA any small business loans or stock options in manufacturing companies will only benefit Japanese or other foreign companies.
