i have a three inch, full underlug, stainless, roundbutt, fixed sight gp100. i just wanted to put some low-profile wood stocks for it. i can't seem to find anything though. all i find are the wood inserts. i want to get rid of the whole grip, and get one-piece low-profile, wood stocks for it. finger grooves are okay. thanks for reading.

Hello Charels,
I had the same gun and wanted the same thing, or thought I did. I ended up getting a set of Secret Service grips from Eagle Grips. They are a two piece affair. Fit and finish was okay, but recoil was punishing. If you want them, let me know. I'll sell them for 3/4 of the list price, if I can find them. Mine are not checkered.
Ruger GP grips come in full size and compact. Round and Square butt are S&W terms.

Houge makes some really nice wood stocks that areboth attractive and ergomonic.....and pretty cheap.....IMHO:cool:

Grips

As noted above Hogue makes quite a lot of different configurations with or without finger grooves, a number of different woods, with or without checkering. To view see:

Eagle makes grips also as does Herretts and Badger and Altamont. I have a GP-100 with Hogue wood grips without the grooves and they work quite well (they have a palm swell on the sides) and not having the grooves allows a latitude of hand placement.

Found em. $45. shipped. Let me know if you're still interested. I'm fixin to clean out all the old stuff that has accumulated in the bottom of the shooting box.

Long ago I bought a Blade-Tech IWB for the 4 inch model. I carried the 3inch in that, though I no longer have th 3inch. I found that the 4inch isn't significantly longer or heavier. And it has night sights.

thanks again.
my choice is more one of feel. i like the shorter shroud version of the 3".i'm one of the few that isn't fond of a muzzle heavy revolver.
a couple of friends of mine have GP's. one is 4",the other 6",both full shroud. both nice shooters.
i've had this gun in the back of my mind for some time. i'm looking at the Lett ivory micarta grips myself.i've had a number of hogues, but they never seemed right on for me.

I am assuming thae grips would be for a CCW gun.
Don't do it!!! I had/have the same problem with a S&W 657. The grips are too large to conceal. I got a set of service size stocks. The gun was UN-CONTROLABLE with personal protection or my regular loads.

I also have a 3" GP100 fixed sight, heavy underlug, and wanted some wood slim grips. Mine were from Eagle I think, never fit as well as those compact factory. let alone the recoil with .38+p's was tough. .357 were not controllable (for me) Back to the factory grips. Milt Sparks made me a Summer special IWB for the 3" lugged model.
It too a long time to choose which GP100 I wanted. Many variations. But this combo seems the best to me also. All in all a rugged Ruger. With a trigger job, and polished trigger face, is perfection in a short 6-shooter.
