Well after about 600 rounds downrange, Im starting to see some progress with the "old boy" Practise and careful handloads help. It's so enjoyable to go to the steel range and knock them down, makes my day and the time and expense worth it. My two shooting buddys both went and bought 03's after seeing mine shoot so well. Im having more fun than ever.:D

The 03 was "beloved" by the pre WWII generations for all the right reasons.

They are smooth, slick, and accurate.

I have a 1903A3 four grove barrel that I purchased from the DCM in 1960. Unfortunately I converted it to 308 Norma Magnum. It's polished to a high gloss and it wears a fancy grade myrtle wood stock. I can shoot 1 1/4 inch 100 yards groups all day with it. I took my first antelope with it at 275 yards. This said, I wish that I had left it orignal.

I got a 1903 "mfg 1916" with a below 800000 SN. I shoot it and I love it. In my military string it is second only to my four digit SN Krag, that bolt is as smooth as poring water out of a glass.

OK you got your '03, and it shoots good, NOW, find a CMP GSM (Garand-Springfield-vintage Military) match and really let the old girl show you what she can do.
