Love Story (really, it's gun related)

A couple of weeks ago I met Richard Davis of Second Chance fame and he related a love story. Please bear with me:

On July 27, 1997 Troooper Angela Watson of the Ohio State Highway Patrol spotted a hitchiker walking along on the highway. As it is illegal to hitchhike, she pulls over and approaches the young man. He responds by pulling out a .44 Magnum revolver from his waistband and firing at her, striking her in vest (a Monarch II). Trooper Watson drew her own weapon and returned fire. They exchange fire while Trooper Watson retreated to the cover of her patrol car. She clears a jam, reloads and reengages, killing her assailant (4 hits total). Backup arrives and over the dead body on a highway there's magic. Anyway, she and her backup are engaged to be married and since Richard Davis' vest gave her her second chance, he will be giving her away at the wedding.

Now, wasn't that a nice love story? Can you imagine strangers asking them how they met?

Richard, is one of a kind. His "saves" are important to him. He alswys has time to talk to one of them.

Angela is a "looker" (sorry, if that upsets some of the female members here) and I would have been smitten if it had been me that arrived as her back up.

Richard also added that she is a petite woman (about 5'4", 115 lbs) as proof of the misconception of knockdown power. The .44 Mag which struck her certainly did not bowl her over and she stayed on her feet, fought back and won.

As Mas Ayoob says, the Kevlar Survivors is a cool club, but the initiation sucks. I'm glad it turned out well for the trooper and her backup beau. I wonder if they can get a white gown and tux in Kevlar?
