Love me love my snubbie

 After shooting tonight, I just fell in love with my Detective Special. Even though the barrel is turned to the left just a tad, it is still an accurate gun and fun to shoot...and better controled with these larger grips (the ones that came with the gun) rather than the old style grips you usually see on 2cond generation guns. Still like my Official Police guns better, but the Dick Special still makes a great backup gun and carry gun on days when coats are not to be worn.
See for yourselves:

..you don't have to sell it to me....I bought a NIB(no longer) 1965 colt Det. and I am having loads of fun target practicing with it...very accurate too...little wonder they were so popular for so long a time...when I find a NIB one from the 40s...SNATCH! it will be mine...

Plus, the Dect. Special can handle +P rounds if you ever needed that extra punch.:) Cobra frame I'm not sure would handle it.

But I don't ever shoot or even carry +P rounds in my Dick. Too much wear and tear and plus regular .38 special has quite a recoil kick alone

....I buy a lot of old boxes of vintage 38 ammo..so far I have only shot the match mid-range wadcutters in my Det., next time at the range I will take some standard 158 gr rounds....besides ..and I believe it...many say extra-power rounds are really wasted in a short 2" barrel as there isn't enough length for the cartridge to burn the powder up before exiting..hence extra fire, smoke and noise but not that much increase in power...I save my old hi-speed and metal piercing rounds (1100 muzzle fps..YA-HOO!!!) for a heavy framed 38 revolver...

...another reason for my enjoyment is the 38 special round itself...a real pleasure to shoot in quantity...didn't always think I would appreciate this cartridge like I do now....

Ah, come on man...it's Christmas time. No sense starting a flame war now...
Okay okay, out of respect to Joe Friday and Max Smart from the 60s I will be graceful to the Chief Special :o.....it's not it's fault that S&W left out that sixth chamber ;) :D
