Lots of Kahr P9 questions

My father just picked up a P9 for CCW. Many questions for you folks:

1. The price was $400 for a LNIB (only 75 rds thru it). Is this a good deal?

2. What do you recommend for an IWB holster?

3. What ammo have you found that works well?

Thanks,
rock

Rock Jock,

I am sitting here looking at my LNIB K40 in nickel. I just picked it up today. I was not even looking for one. If this one has more than 1 box of ammo through it, I'll eat my shoe. I paid the same as your father. I think it's a great deal at least here in Mass, where we can't get them unless they are made prior to 10/98.
I saw an MK9 go for $500 andit had a lot more use. So, my opinion, yes, it's a great deal.

I don't know what holster to recommend yet, but I will start by looking for a Fobus paddle holster ( a rotating one if possible). I have two and they are great.

Today I shot 50 rds of Wolf semi-wad, awesome stuff. I like this for my Makarov as well. I also shot about 10 rds of Federal hollow points. They all fed, but the accuracy stunk. At 15 yds, the wolf shot a 1.5" group and I couldn't get the federal under 4-5". Maybe it's me, it was the first 60 rds.

You will probably get plenty of recommendations. I'll just tell you what I decided on for myself.

Comp-tac.com is where I got my IWB holsters. The undercover and the shirt tucker.

I use Fereral EFMJ in all my 9mm guns and it feeds great in the P9.

Finally, I think $400 is a good price. I think I paid $439 plus tax new.

Kahr ?s

Frankly I have the P40 covert and I use the IWB by Kramerleather.com, sheepskin version - very comfortable. I also have the renegade model 53 ankle holster if I'm carrying my HK IWB (Kramer also). It has a strong belt/waistband clip to use without a belt. FBI tilt also. In my Kel-tec P11 I use the speer or proload 124g +P gold dot JHP and no feed problems. Kel-tec is suppose to be notorious for feed problems and the Kahr is a much better product out of the box.

I had one. Good price and the P9 has the Elite trigger.

I prefer the MK9 Elite for the size but the P is much lighter. There seemed to be some issues with the earlier guns but I never had a problem. I`ve heard Kahr has pretty good service.

I carried IWB for years and it ruined my sciatic nerve. That and a few motorcycles accidents.:) I carry on the belt which helps but IWB is a bit better for concealability. I don`t have a recommendation but plenty here will.

I use Federal Hydra Shoks and haven`t had a problem. The only time the I had a FTF with the P9 was with Wolf at the range and that garbage is long gone. The manual says 200 rounds and it`s broken in. I`d second that.
